Cheswick Neighborhood Working day has returned.
The absolutely free daylong pageant welcomed readers to Rachel Carson Park after staying on hiatus given that 2014. Strawberry Days replaced it for many years, but that celebration was canceled the previous two decades above covid-19 pandemic issues.
The ever-altering covid-relevant restrictions did not sway organizers this 12 months, who were being decided the celebration would go ahead. It is sponsored by the Cheswick Recreation Board.
“We claimed we would go for it — it is an outside event,” recreation board member Shawna Almes explained. “We’re energized to welcome every person.”
Crowds gathered under sunny skies and relished food, fellowship and stay audio from a preferred oldies band, American Pie.
“There’s a wonderful sense of group below,” previous Cheswick resident Samantha Caruthers reported. “Cheswick has wonderful neighbors, and we normally go to Glen’s for custard, much too.”
Glen’s Custard’s Glenwiches were being accessible, together with pulled pork, barbecue, pepperoni rolls and quite a few desserts.
All proceeds benefited the borough’s recreation board.
The celebration commenced with a 9/11 tribute offered by borough officers.
Springdale Public Library furnished a free of charge craft booth for young children. Also presented had been face painting and online games, like cornhole.
