MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The pastor of Covington To start with United Methodist believes a few who arrived to their church pretending to will need assistance walked off with the keys to their large food items pantry truck and drove it off their whole lot several several hours afterwards.

Pence stated the couple showed up at the church Tuesday, and Wednesday, when they found the truck was lacking, they understood the keys ended up long gone, much too.
“We really feel like they provided some fake data, and they were just kind of coming as a result of the constructing and found the keys to our truck,” Pence claimed. “We know the truck was not damaged into, so they had to use keys.”
The Bread of Daily life Foodstuff Pantry provides foodstuff to 75-100 family members weekly in Tipton County. Pence stated they use the 18-foot truck to choose up food stuff from location grocery shops and the Mid-South Foods Financial institution.
He mentioned with no the truck, they can not choose up the bulk items from Memphis.
“They load on pallets, which is the principal purpose we bought the truck so we could make those people runs to the Mid-South Foodstuff Bank,” explained Pence. “They never load on to pickup vehicles or flatbed trailers. They only load on to trucks.”
He said volunteers have stepped up with pickup vans, trailers, and vans to choose up foodstuff donations from neighborhood grocers and local community groups, but they will be restricted on what they can do.
Pence stated they are still accomplishing drive-through food distributions, and the will need is bigger than ever.
“It’s starting off to decide on up now that faculty has started off, and COVID is producing a comeback,” he claimed.
The stolen white box truck has Bread of Daily life Meals Pantry written on it, but Pence stated it’s doable the vehicle has been painted.
